Clashes erupt in old city, lady among three injured

SRINAGAR

At least three persons, including a woman, were injured as police fired pellet guns to chase away stone throwing protestors in Nowhatta area of Srinagar.

Protests erupted in the old city areas after Friday prayers.

Youth raised anti India and slogans and when they tried to march they were stopped by the police anf other forces.

The youth pelted stone on forces resulting in clashes in the area.

The forces fired tear smoke shells and pellet guns to chase away the protestors, resulting in injuries to three persons including a woman, sources said.

They added that the injured have been hospitalised.

Peaceful protests were also reported from Abi Guzar area in Lal Chowk after Juma’at-ul-Vida (last Friday of fasting month of Ramazan) prayers, they said.

Separatists in Kashmir had called to observe Juma’at-ul-Vida as ‘Quds & Kashmir Day’ to press the international community for resolution of Palestine and Kashmir issue.
