Clashes erupt in Sugan Shopian after forces cordon village

Clashes erupted between government forces and locals in Sugan village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Thursday after forces cordoned started search operation in the village.

Local sources and reports said that as the joint forces of army, CRPF and SOG cordoned Sugan village and started house to house searches, locals came out on streets and amid pro-freedom slogans.

Correspondent reports said that the protests lead to intense clashes as forces resorted to tear smoke shelling to quell the protesters.

Clashes were going at the time this report was filed.
