Clashes are going on between Police and youth in North Kashmir’s Bandipora town after police took to nocturnal raids in the area last night.

The residents took to the streets on Wednesday, and held protests. The forces, in order to disperse the protesters, resorted to aerial firing, tear-smoke shelling and baton charge, witnesses and locals said.

The locals alleged that police and paramilitary forces ransacked and harassed a number of houses during the nocturnal raids.

Police sources said that the trouble started after they tried to arrest a youth, Yasir Ahmad Akhoon, s/o Ab Rashid Akhoon of Nebarpora but he was not at home. “Yasir is involved in many cases,” police sources said.
