Forces on Saturday called off a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in Hajin after youth pelted stones and no contact was established with the militants.
Forces cordoned off twin mohallas of Shakoordin and Bonmohala at around 5am area of the northern Kashmir town of Hajin in Bandipora district after receiving inputs about the presence of militants, sources said.
Local sources said as the force personnel were laying siege youth started raising slogans and throwing stones. Forces retaliated with tear gas shelling and tried to chase away the protesters.
They said that as the protests intensified the forces called off the operation after no contact was established with the militants.
