Clashes broke out between the youth and government forces after the Eid prayers in south Kashmir’s Islamabad district on Saturday morning.
Witnesses said that soon after the Eid congregation concluded at the two main Eidgah’s – the Ashajipora and Janglat Mandi, the young men resorted to protest demonstrations. They eventually had clashes with the cops. It was a stone versus tear smoke exchange.
The police used tear smoke shells and attempted chasing the crowds away. A photojournalist working with a web portal The Kashmiriyat was reported to have injured during the clashes.
