Police on Wednesday said that a peaceful protest was taken out in Islamabad district, followed by police and district administration.

The police spokesman said that subsequently, some miscreants indulged in stone pelting thus turning the situation violent to enforce forceful shutdown in Islamabad town.

In the said incident 2 police personnel and 2 miscreants received injuries when they were hit by stones. All of them are stated to be stable, he said.

In another incident in Pulwama, the spokesman said Municipal Committee Pulwama was pelted by stones during an anti-encroachment drive. However, Police party reached the spot and subsequently dispersed the miscreants. No loss was reported, the spokesman added

In Awantipora miscreants tried to block the main road but due to the timely intervention of local police, the situation was handled and no street vandalism could take place. It is clarified that situation has been brought under control in all these locations.

The police spokesman further said that they request citizens not to fall prey to any speculations and rumours which are intended to disturb the peace. we seek their cooperation for maintaining order, he said.
