Police resorted to tear smoke shells and aerial firing in Koil Pulwama to disperse protesters on Thursday afternoon however police officials denied any firing.

Eyewitnesses told Kashmir Life that scores of protesters resorted to stone pelting and anti-India slogans in Koil village.

“The police personnel swung into action and tried to chase them away however the protesters resisted,” they said adding, “police later used tear smoke canisters and fired some shots in air against them.”

Sources said that no one was injured in the incident.

South Kashmir is voting for Islamabad seat of Lok Sabha election.

Sources said that overall 18 percent voting was recorded till 1 pm in the South Kashmir constituency.
