Scores of youth in different areas of old city took to the streets on Saturday afternoon. The youth which assembled first in small groups were planning to take a march towards ‘martyrs’ graveyard in Eidgah. The police came in action and disbursed the people which resulted in protests and stone pelting.
Witnesses said that youth staged protests at Nawakadal, Kawdara, Zaina Kadal, Nalai Maar and clashed with police and paramilitary troops deployed at different places. Reports say the clashes are still going on.
However police sources confirmed that deployment, which in the morning was thin, has been increased at such places but curfew has not been re-imposed anywhere.
