Clashes erupted in Kralpora area of Kupwara after students clashed with forces while protesting against the Pulwama college incident.

The students, reports reaching here said, from Government Higher Secondary School Narbal on Thursday morning held a protest demonstration and while marching towards nearby army camp, they clashed with forces. Later on youth from surrounding areas joined the protesting students.

Correspondent reports said that youth also hurdled a petrol bomb on the forces.

Pertinently, encounter is going on between militants and Army around four kilometers from clashes site.

The encounter raged after after militates attacked Army camp and killed three army men including a captain rank officer in wee hours. The area is closer to the Line of Control. Two militants were also killed in the attack.

Defence sources said that militants carried out an attack on the Panzgam army camp at around 4:30 am. It led to an exchange of fire that continued for some time.


Meanwhile, students of Boys Higher Secondary school Pulwama also held protest on Thursday over the arrest of the students a day earlier.

Reports said that students staged protests inside the school and later marched towards the main chowk and Police station where police and paramilitary forces used tear gas to stop them.

However, officials denied reports of clashes or use of teargas.
“These students staged protest at 8 in the morning while as schools open at 10 am,” an official said adding that , “it seems that some outside elements are misguiding them.”

The student protests that spread across Kashmir started from Pulwma Degree College when forces clashed with the students inside collage prermises on April 15, resulting in injuries to around 50 students.
