Youth clashed with forces in Sopore town on Friday to protest the killing of a civilian in Shopian district earlier this week.

Reports said that scores of youth took to streets after congregational Friday prayers and assembled near Jamia Masjid Sopore.

The protesting youth were shouting pro-freedom and anti-India slogans.

Forces resorted to tear smoke shelling as the protesters tried to march ahead, triggering clashes.

Meanwhile, the residents of Ajas village offered funeral prayers in absentia for the slain young student of Shopian.

Scores of people gathered in the lawns of central Jamia Masjid Ajas and offered prayers for the slain youth.

Later, they held a peaceful protest rally amid pro-freedom and anti-India slogans.

Joint Resistance Leadership had called for shutdown and protests today against the killing of Adil Farooq Magrey who was killed by forces in Ganowpora village of Shopian earlier this week.
