SRINAGAR: A clinic in Dara Syedpora, Harwan, alleged to provide unproven medical treatments, has been sealed, with medicines seized for investigation.
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Srinagar, Dr Tahir Sajad, said, “The clinic of Famous Cure Quackery has been seized in Dara Syedpora, Harwan, Srinagar. We have also seized medicines, and samples have been taken for investigation to verify their authenticity and assess any violations of medical practices.”
Earlier, in an official communiqué, the Head of the Department of Paediatrics at GMC urged Principal GMC Srinagar to take strong measures against the practice of quackery.
“With profound reverence and humble submission, it is to request your august self to protect public health and safety. We need to take some strong measures against the practice of quackery,” the communiqué stated.
It further highlighted, “Over the past few years, there have been several cases of acute liver failure in patients who were previously discharged from this hospital. After leaving the hospital, they sought miracle cures at a location in Dara Harwan, where they received unproven medical treatments and complementary therapies, leading them to land in the ICU with acute liver failure and, eventually, death.”
The communiqué concluded with an appeal: “Kindly take all possible necessary measures against such unqualified individuals to safeguard future generations.” (JKNS)
