SRINAGAR: A cloudburst triggered a flash flood in the Safapora area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Sunday, inundating houses, shops, orchards and roads, causing widespread disruption.
The sudden surge of water entered several residential houses and commercial establishments, damaging household belongings and affecting normal life in the area, reports said.
Several orchards were also submerged, with growers fearing significant losses to their crops.
The flash flood left several roads and interior lanes waterlogged, disrupting vehicular movement and making it difficult for residents to move around.
Residents urged the district administration to assess the damage, deploy dewatering machinery and provide immediate relief to the affected families. They also sought long-term measures to mitigate flood risks and prevent similar incidents in the future. (KNT)
