SRINAGAR: A cloudburst hit Bakhipora, a Rafiabad village in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday, triggering flash floods, which caused damage to several residential houses and submerged many inner roads in the area.

Quoting an official the news agency KNO reported that flash floods triggered by a cloudburst damaged several residential houses and roads in the area. However, there was no report of any loss of life in the incident, he said.

“Several residential houses were also partially damaged due to gusty winds and flash floods in the area while the interior road links too were blocked by the mud waters,” the official said, adding that the paddy crop and orchards have also suffered damage.

The official said that the rescue teams were immediately pressed into service to restore essentials to the area. Meanwhile, a revenue official said that they have sent teams to the area to ascertain the details of damage caused by flash floods.

He, however, said that the situation was under control as of now.
