Cloud burst struck once again in Leh Division of Jammu and Kashmir sparking flash floods that resulted in washing away of residential houses, government and private offices. The flash floods completely damaged the office-cum residential quarter of Government of India’s Consultancy organization ‘Water and Power Consultancy Service’ (WAPCOS).

Official sources told CNS that from July 22 last month; this was the third cloud burst that hit the Biama area of Leh Division. The first cloud burst struck on July 22, second on July 28 and the recent one struck on the night of August 9.

“The vehicles and the office-cum residential quarters belonging to Consultancy organized were washed away in flash floods. All the employees and other people have been shifted to safer places,” an official said.

Pertinently, WAPCOS has a work contract with the Jammu and Kashmir State Power Development Corporation for the Project Management Consultancy of 9 MWs each at Dah and Hanu Hydro Electrical Projects.

AK Gahlot, Chief Engineer WAPCOS told CNS that the organization will provide financial assistance to all employees, Leh who lost their belongings in Biama Leh.
