Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, has expressed deep shock and grief over the sad demise of Mufti Bashir Ahmad Farooqui, Imam Dargah, Asar-e-Sharief, Hazratbal.

Mufti Bashir A Farooqui breathed his last after suffering a cardiac arrest, here Sunday, an official statement said.

In his condolence message, the Chief Minister described late Mufti Bashir A Farooqui as a great Islamic scholar who was an embodiment of spirituality, “His passing away has left behind a big void which will be difficult to fill,” he said.

Mufti Sayeed expressed heart-felt sympathy with the family of the late Islamic scholar and prayed for place in jannah for the departed soul.

In recognition of his immense contribution towards matters of Islamic jurisprudence, the State Government had recently nominated late Mufti Bashir A Farooqui as Member of the J&K Wakaf Board.

Meanwhile, Member Parliament and President of People’s Democratic Party, Mehbooba Mufti, has expressed grief over the sad demise of Mufti Bashir Ahmad Farooqui, Imam and Khateeb of Dargah, Asar-e-Sharief, Hazratbal.

In her condolence message, Mehbooba said in the passing away of Mufti Bashir A Farooqui, the State had lost a luminary and a great Islamic scholar.

Mehbooba expressed her heart-felt sympathy with the bereaved family of the late Islamic scholar and prayed for peace to the departed soul.
