SRINAGAR

Days after Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Syeed directed authorities to relocate the Gynaecological ward of GB Pant hospital, the Health Minister Chowdray Lal Singh Sunday claimed that the CM never issued such directions and “some people were frustrated due to the better performance of the GB Pant hospital.”

“Chief Minister has never said about the relocation of Gynaecological ward and its theatre. Such facilities will not be closed from the hospital at any cost. Somebody has spread false information. I can also tell you that some people here are frustrated due to the better performance of GB Pant hospital,” Lal Singh told KNS over phone.

He said that Chief Minister has only talked about having additional children hospital in Srinagar. “During the DDB meeting of Srinagar, the Chief Minister announced setting up of an additional children’s hospital in the Srinagar. It was wrong that he talked about the relocation of Gynaecological facility from the hospital,” he said.

Singh said in Jammu and Kashmir overall mortality rate is four percent. “In India the mortality rate is 12.30 percent but I can tell you that in Jammu and Kashmir the rate is only four percent,” he claimed.

It is pertinent to mention here that Chief Minister Wednesday had visited GB Panth Children’s Hospital at Sonawar and gave immediate directions to relocate the Gynae Ward, from the hospital to pave way for creation of additional capacity of 22 beds that can be utilized as Paediatric Surgical Wing in the hospital.
