CM Omar Abdullah Chairs 52nd JKHB Meeting

   

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday chaired the 52nd meeting of the Board of Directors of the JK Housing Board (JKHB) at the Civil Secretariat, Jammu reviewing key policy, administrative, and development matters.

The meeting was attended by senior officials including Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Additional Chief Secretary Dheeraj Gupta, Commissioner Secretary Housing and Urban Development Mandeep Kaur, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar, and Managing Director JK Housing Board, with officers posted outside Jammu joining via video conference.

Agenda items included development of a Mass Housing Colony at Birpur, Tehsil Bari Brahmana, District Samba, and construction of housing facilities on 41 Kanal 5 Marlas of land at Bhalwal, Jammu. The Board also discussed the implementation of the JK Rehabilitation Assistance Scheme, 2022, engagement of legal counsel for court cases, and budgetary proposals for 2024–25 and 2025–26.

Chairing the session, Abdullah emphasised timely execution, transparency, and strict monitoring of projects. He directed certain proposals be revised for financial prudence, technical soundness, and long-term public benefit.

The Chief Minister urged the Housing Board to fast-track project implementation, adopt modern management practices, and ensure delivery of affordable, safe, and quality housing, particularly for middle and lower-income groups. He also stressed rationalising institutional structures, strengthening financial discipline, and enhancing inter-departmental coordination to make the Board more efficient and citizen-centric.
