SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday condemned the militant attack in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district in which Head Constable Ashiq Hussain of the 3rd Battalion, India Reserve Police (IRP) was killed while on duty, describing his death as the ultimate sacrifice in the service of the nation.
In a post on X, the Chief Minister said he was deeply saddened by the loss of the police personnel, who was killed in what he described as a cowardly terrorist attack.
“Deeply saddened by the death in the line of duty of Head Constable Ashiq Hussain of IRP 3rd Battalion JK Police. HC Hussain made the ultimate sacrifice in a cowardly terror attack in the Anantnag area of South Kashmir,” Omar Abdullah said.
The Chief Minister unequivocally condemned the attack and extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
“I unequivocally condemn this attack and send my heartfelt condolences to the members of his family. May Allah grant him the highest place in Jannat,” he said.
Head Constable Ashiq Hussain was killed during a search operation after militants opened fire on security forces in the Anantnag area. Security forces have launched operations to trace those responsible for the attack.
