SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday met a delegation of the Group of Concerned Citizens (GCC) J&K at the Civil Secretariat here and discussed a range of issues related to governance, development, environmental protection and public welfare.
Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani was also present in the meeting.
The delegation, led by former IAS officer Khurshid Ahmed Ganai, raised several issues of public importance, including municipal administration, waste management and protection of water bodies and wetlands across Jammu and Kashmir.
The members stressed the need for effective measures to conserve wetlands and water bodies, besides addressing concerns related to environmental protection.
Issues concerning conversion of agricultural land, traffic management and flood mitigation and management were also discussed during the meeting.
The delegation also highlighted the need for greater focus on power development and renewable energy, besides raising issues related to skill development, employment generation and digitisation of revenue records.
The Chief Minister heard the concerns and suggestions put forth by the members and assured them that the issues raised would be taken into consideration by the government while examining the relevant matters.
