The appointments have been granted on compassionate grounds to provide employment support to families who have lost their primary earning members, reaffirming the government’s commitment to assisting bereaved households.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said the government has consistently tried to stand “shoulder to shoulder” with people facing personal tragedies, noting that while the appointments bring financial relief, they stem from painful circumstances.

He said that unlike candidates selected through competitive examinations, the beneficiaries have endured personal loss, describing their situation as a “sacrifice greater than any test,” as they have lost a close family member.

Omar Abdullah added that no form of compensation can replace the loss of a loved one, stating that no family would choose employment over the return of the deceased.

He also highlighted ongoing administrative reforms, noting that the shift from SRO-43 to the Rehabilitation Assistance Scheme was intended to address procedural delays and improve efficiency in delivering compassionate appointments.

The Chief Minister acknowledged that delays in processing cases remain an issue and assured that efforts would be made to streamline procedures and reduce bureaucratic hurdles.

He stressed that forcing bereaved families to move from office to office for approvals adds to their hardship and said the government is committed to simplifying and expediting the process.

Congratulating the appointees, the Chief Minister described the occasion as the beginning of a new phase in their lives and urged them to serve with honesty, sincerity, and dedication.

He advised the new recruits to uphold integrity in public service and remain focused on their responsibilities throughout their careers.

The Chief Minister also assured beneficiaries that their concerns would be addressed promptly and encouraged them to approach authorities in case of difficulties.

The event was attended by Minister Javaid Ahmad Dar, Minister Satish Sharma, Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, senior administrative officers, and a large number of beneficiaries and their families.
