SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday unveiled the 2026 calendars of the Tourism Department and the Jammu and Kashmir Cable Car Corporation (JKCCC) and launched the official website of the Directorate of Tourism, Kashmir, as part of efforts to strengthen tourism promotion and digital outreach in the Union Territory.

The calendars, released at the Civil Secretariat here, showcase major tourist destinations and key tourism infrastructure across Jammu and Kashmir. Congratulating the departments, the Chief Minister said the publications would help enhance the region’s tourism potential.

“These calendars are not merely annual publications; they serve as visual narratives of Jammu and Kashmir’s natural beauty and its evolving tourism infrastructure,” Omar Abdullah said.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister also launched the Tourism Kashmir website, which has been designed as a comprehensive digital platform to promote tourism events and destinations, maintain digital archives, and provide essential information for visitors and stakeholders. The portal integrates links to Jammu Tourism, JKTDC, the Jammu and Kashmir Cable Car Corporation and other allied organisations, offering single-window access to tourism-related information.
Emphasising the importance of digital outreach, the Chief Minister said a modern and dynamic online presence is vital for effective tourism promotion and engagement.
The Chief Minister further inaugurated a 14-day Integrated Ski Training Course covering Gulmarg, Sonamarg and Doodhpathri. The programme, aimed at placing these destinations firmly on the skiing map, will train between 500 and 600 students in the 12 to 18 age group during the year. The course includes certified basic skiing training, with batches currently underway at Gulmarg and Sonamarg.

Officials informed that the initiative is part of broader efforts to promote winter tourism and develop local skiing talent across multiple destinations in Kashmir.
Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, MLA Zadibal Tanvir Sadiq, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Additional Chief Secretary Tourism Ashish Chandra Verma, Director Tourism Kashmir and Managing Director JKCCC Syed Qamar Sajad, Director Tourism Jammu Dr Vikas Gupta, Managing Director JKTDC Shreya Singhal, and other senior officers were present at the event.
