The receiving station has been planned to enhance power availability and improve voltage stability across Samba district. Interacting with local residents at Harminder, the Chief Minister said the project aims to reduce load stress on the existing power infrastructure and ensure a reliable and uninterrupted electricity supply for households, farmers, commercial establishments and industrial units once commissioned.

He described farmers as the backbone of Jammu and Kashmir’s economy, stating that just as soldiers protect the nation’s borders, farmers protect the population from hunger. The government, he said, remains committed to safeguarding the welfare and livelihoods of both.

During the visit, the Chief Minister also listened to public grievances and demands, reiterating the government’s resolve to strengthen basic infrastructure across all regions of Jammu and Kashmir. He assured locals that road connectivity to Harminder would be improved and issued on-the-spot directions to the Deputy Commissioner Samba to prepare a proposal.

Later, Omar Abdullah inaugurated the modern bus stand at Thandi Khui, Vijaypur, developed to provide safe, convenient and commuter-friendly transport facilities. He directed officials to make the facility operational for public use at the earliest and ensure optimal utilisation of the associated infrastructure.

Highlighting the importance of infrastructure investment, the Chief Minister said strengthening the power and transport sectors is essential for improving quality of life, boosting local commerce and generating employment.

Officials informed him that the bus stand is equipped with improved passenger amenities, organised parking facilities and modern design features aimed at easing traffic congestion and enhancing the overall travel experience. The facility is expected to benefit daily commuters, students and travellers through improved connectivity and operational efficiency.
