CM Omar Lays Foundation Stone for Automated Vehicle Testing Station in Jammu

   

SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday laid the foundation stone for an Automated Vehicle Testing Station (ATS) at Khanpur, Nagrota, Jammu, marking a major step towards improving road safety and modernising transport infrastructure in Jammu Kashmir.

Speaking at the ceremony, Abdullah said the state-of-the-art facility would introduce a more transparent, efficient and technology-driven vehicle fitness assessment system. He added that automated testing stations are crucial for reducing road accidents, enforcing safety standards and minimising manual irregularities in issuing fitness certificates.

The Chief Minister reaffirmed his government’s commitment to adopting modern systems and enhancing public service delivery across departments, particularly those directly affecting citizens’ daily lives.

The event was attended by Minister for Transport Satish Sharma, Secretary Transport Avny Lavasa, Transport Commissioner Vishesh Paul Mahajan, Regional Transport Officer Jammu and other senior officials from the Transport Department.
