SRINAGAR: Political leaders across Jammu and Kashmir have expressed deep sorrow and solidarity after a tragic road accident in Handwara claimed the life of a young girl student and left about 14-15 others injured, including two in critical condition.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, in a statement issued by his office on social media platform X, extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, Tabasum Mushtaq of GDC Sogam. He assured that the situation was being closely monitored, and all necessary assistance was being provided to the injured students.
Former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti also conveyed her grief, stating she was “deeply saddened” by the tragic loss. Offering condolences to the bereaved family, she prayed for strength during this difficult time and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
Peoples Conference president Sajad Gani Lone expressed his concern and extended prayers for the injured students, some of whom have been shifted to Srinagar for advanced treatment.
Their statements came in response to the Saturday morning accident in Vodpora, Handwara, where a college picnic bus overturned, resulting in one fatality and multiple injuries. Rescue and relief operations were promptly launched, and authorities are investigating the incident. (JKNS)
