SRINAGAR: Jammu Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and prominent cleric Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Wednesday visited the family of Tariq Ahmad Bhat to offer condolences following his death.
Bhat, 52, served as Bureau Chief of The Week magazine and was a senior journalist with nearly three decades of experience. He was widely respected for his integrity, professionalism, and deep understanding of the political and social dynamics of Jammu and Kashmir. He passed away following a cardiac arrest.
During the visit, the Chief Minister and Mirwaiz expressed grief over Bhat’s untimely demise and praised his contribution to journalism and public discourse. Family members, colleagues, and local community members were present, highlighting the widespread respect Bhat commanded across the region.
Both leaders emphasised the need to honour Bhat’s legacy and the role he played in reporting responsibly from the region.
