Chief Minister Ms Mehbooba Mufti reached South Kashmir’s Islamabad district early Wednesday and is filing her nomination papers for the assembly seat.
Islamabad assembly seat fell vacant with the demise of former CM, late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. CM Ms Mehbooba is sitting Lok Sabha lawmaker from South Kashmir.
Sources said that Ms Mehbooba is accompanied by her senior PDP member, Muzaffar Hussain Baig, senior cabinet colleague A R Veeri besides, Sartaj Madni, M Ashraf Mir, Nazir A Laway, Farooq Andrabi and Youth president Waheed Ur Rehman Para.
Ms Mehbooba will be facing NC’s Iftikhar Misger, Congress’ Hilal A Shah and Independent Er Sheikh Ab Rasheed.
The Islamabad assembly seat will go elections on June 19 and counitng will be done on June 22.
