SRINAGAR

Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday formally threw open city’s first roller skating rink in the premises of the indoor stadium. It cost state sports council around Rs 15 lakh.

The rink has the international size and is a key infrastructure for roller skating. A recreational activity and a sport, roller skating is the traveling on surfaces with roller skates. The hobby according to on-line sources, was popularized in US in 1935.

Interacting with around 50 skating enthusiasts, mostly children, Ms Mufti told them that the government will leave no stone un-turned in ensuring that the young generation has enough of sports infrastructure. She asked their parents suggestions in improving the existing infrastructure.

Council secretary Waheed Parra told Kashmir Life that the parents thanked the Chief Minister for the facility saying the facility will help them “save the bathrooms” that were usually used by kids to pursue their hobby.
