The students of valley appearing in the final year examinations of Management and Commerce departments being held by the University of Kashmir Wednesday asked the authorities to postpone the examinations scheduled for 16, 17 and 18 January since the examinations of the country wide CMAT being held on 17th January.

Kashmir Life has been receiving scores of calls for last many days seeking redressal of their genuine demands. However, Controller Examination, UoK, Prof Abdul Salam Bhat was not available for comments up to Wednesday afternoon.

Most of the students are supposed to appear in CMAT examination in Jammu province thus making it difficult for them to reach Jammu and other winter capital areas in a day and the return by night. “It is more than a 250 KM drive from Srinagar. We will have to leave for the venue a day before and cannot come back overnight,” the students said.

When Kashmir Life this afternoon contacted Prof Bhat, he said, “we will either reschedule the examinations falling on 16, 17 and 18th January or hold a special exam of the candidates who will miss the examinations due to CMAT.”
