CMO Anantnag Dr. Parvaiz said, that due to heavy rainfall muddy water from hilly areas has entered low-lying residential zones, creating potential health risks. “Contaminated water can lead to infectious diseases such as diarrhoea, loose motion, hepatitis and other ailments,” he cautioned.

He advised residents to thoroughly clean water tanks if flood water has entered them, and then refill with fresh water. “It is important to filter and boil the water before consumption. Those who don’t have filters should keep water in large containers, allow the mud to settle at the bottom, and then carefully use the clean water after boiling,” he explained.

“Safeguarding our health and lives must remain our first priority,” the CMO stressed. (KNC)
