SRINAGAR

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senior leader and former Finance Minister, Tariq Hameed Karra has said the chief minister is paying lip service to the youth after targeting them physically, mentally and economically.

Addressing a workers meeting at Kurhama in Ganderbal constituency,  Karra said the youth have been the main target of the present dispensation over the last five years and the chief minister’s job talks are totally farce akin to adding insult to the injury of the young population whom he has oppressed to the core. “Fact of the matter is that the government has miserably failed to come up to the aspirations of people particularly the youth,” Karra said adding the CM’s claims of providing one lakh jobs is a cruel joke, when related with the actual ground realities

Karra, who is the PDP’s parliamentary candidate for Srinagar constituency, said the ruling clique has inflicted the system of injustice and exploitation of people, from the last 40 decades and the present government instead of relating with the public wreaked a havoc of injustice and repression in the state.  He said there is no system of transparency available in the state and the deserving hardly find place in the system.  He said the chief minster’s seriousness of tackling the menace of unemployment in the state can simply be gauged from the fact that he (Omar Abdullah) has so for reemployed 400 retired and corrupt persons in the government.

There was immediate need of greater involvement with the youth and the PDP with its youth related policies has always ensured a level playing field for them, Karra said added besides resolution of J&K problem and promotion of interests of every section of the society, youth constitute the core of the PDP’s programme constitute the core of the PDP’s agenda
