Director General Prisons, PL Gupta has been nominated for Chief Minister’s Vigilance Medal for the year 2014 for displaying conspicuous and exemplary courage in exposing corruption and creating awareness against corrupt practices. The award carries a medal, Rs. 51,000 cash and a certificate, an official statement said a day before August 15.

Meanwhile, Government also announced Chief Minister’s Gold Medal for honesty/integrity and meritorious public service for the year 2014. The officers who have been nominated for the medal are Rakesh Kumar Gupta, IAS, Principal Secretary to Governor, Gazzanffer Hussain, IAS, Commissioner/Secretary to Government, Health and Medical Education Department, Dev Lata, KAS, Secretary in Chief Minister’s Secretariat, Showkat Ahmad Beigh, KAS, Director Area Planning/Ex-officio Special Secretary to Government, Planning and Development Department and Tashi Rigzin, Director Prosecution, PHQ (Posthumously).

The award carries a Gold Medal, Rs. 51,000 cash, a citation and a certificate, the statement informed.

Meanwhile, for meritorious services, 4 police officers/officials have been nominated for Sher-i-Kashmir Police Medals-2014, another official statement said.

They are IGP, Crime, Syed Javaid Mujtaba, SP Vigilance, Rupender Kumar Chalotra, Inspector, Abdul Rashid Shah and Sub Inspector Madan Singh. The awards will be presented to them on the occasion of Independence Day-2014, the statement added.
