Cold wave conditions continued in the Kashmir Valley and the Ladakh region on Sunday as minimum temperatures remained below the freezing point.

Drass town in Ladakh region was the coldest place in the state where minimum temperature was minus 28.7 degrees Celsius.

Leh town in Ladakh region registered the minimum temperature of minus 15.5, while Kargil recorded minus 20.7 degrees Celsius.

Srinagar, the summer capital of the state recorded a low of minus 1.4 while the mercury in Qazigund in south Kashmir settled at a low of minus 6.6 degrees Celsius.

The night temperature in Pahalgam – the famous health resort which also serves as one of the base camps for the annual Amarnath Yatra – settled at a low of minus 13.0 degrees while Gulmarg in north Kashmir recorded 12.0.

Kokernag town recorded a low of minus 6.9 degrees Celsius while Kupwara town in north Kashmir registered a low of minus 6.5 degrees Celsius last night.

Jammu city recorded 4.1 degrees Celsius, Katra town 3.8, Batote minus 2.7, Bannihal minus 2.5 and Bhaderwah minus 3.4 as the minimum temperatures.

An official said that minimum temperatures will drop further in the state with the weather likely to remain dry during the next three days.
