SRINAGAR: Cold wave conditions continued in the Kashmir Valley on Tuesday as minimum temperatures remained below the freezing point.
An official from the Metrological department Kashmir said that weather is most likely to remain partly to generally cloudy during December 14 and 15 in Jammu and Kashmir while there is a 50 % probability of light to moderate snow over north and north-west of Kashmir mainly over higher reaches and very light rain/snow at scattered places in plains of the valley later tonight.
“There is no forecast for any major rain/snow till December 23,” he said.
The famous ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir was the coldest place in the Valley where the minimum temperature was minus 5.6 degrees.
Pahalgam, the famous health resort which also serves as one of the base camps for the annual Amarnath Yatra in south Kashmir recorded a low of minus 2.8 degrees Celsius.
Srinagar, the summer capital of the state recorded a low of minus 2.6 degrees Celsius while Qazigund in south Kashmir registered a low of minus 2.6 degrees Celsius.
Kokernag town recorded a low of minus 2.8 degrees Celsius while Kupwara town in north Kashmir registered a low of minus 3.5 degrees Celsius last night.
Jammu city recorded 9.0 degrees Celsius, Katra 7.0, Batote 2.3, Banihal recorded minus 0.4 and Bhaderwah recorded 2.5 degrees Celsius as the night’s lowest temperatures.
