SRINAGAR: Cold wave conditions continued in the Kashmir Valley on Friday as minimum temperatures remained below the freezing point.

An official from the Metrological department Kashmir said that hopefully we are going to have a white Christmas mass this year.

“Moderate to heavy snowfall is likely to occur in the Valley and Ladakh between December 23 to December 25,” he said.

The famous ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir was the coldest place in the Valley where the minimum temperature was minus 8.6 degrees.

Pahalgam, the famous health resort which also serves as one of the base camps for the annual Amarnath Yatra in south Kashmir recorded a low of minus 5.6 degrees Celsius.

Srinagar, the summer capital of the state recorded a low of minus 3.8 degrees Celsius while Qazigund in south Kashmir registered a low of minus 3.2 degrees Celsius.

Kokernag town recorded a low of minus 3.5 degrees Celsius while Kupwara town in north Kashmir registered a low of minus 4.4 degrees Celsius last night.

Jammu city recorded 4.0 degrees Celsius, Katra 3.5, Batote minus 1.5, Banihal recorded minus 3.6 and Bhaderwah recorded minus 2.2 degrees Celsius as the night’s lowest temperatures.
