SRINAGAR: Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have reduced the prices of commercial LPG cylinders by approximately Rs 24 per unit from June 1, offering some relief to hotels, restaurants, and other business establishments across the country, according to media reports.
The new pricing, effective June 1, applies to 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders, while the rates for 14.2-kg domestic cylinders remain unchanged, providing no immediate respite to households.
As per the latest revision, the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi stands at Rs 1,723.50, in Kolkata at Rs 1,826, in Mumbai at Rs 1,674.50, and in Chennai at Rs 1,881. The price cuts are part of the monthly adjustments carried out by state-run fuel retailers based on international benchmark prices and exchange rates.
This marks the second consecutive month of price reductions. In May, the OMCs had decreased commercial LPG rates by around Rs 17 per cylinder.
However, the prices of non-subsidised domestic LPG cylinders have remained static. Currently, a 14.2-kg Indane cylinder is priced at Rs 853 in Delhi, Rs 879 in Kolkata, Rs 852.50 in Mumbai, and Rs 868.50 in Chennai.
OMCs including Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) typically revise cooking gas and aviation fuel prices on the first of every month in alignment with global oil prices and currency fluctuations.
