Communal tension in Zanskar is still going on , the objectionable contents on the social networking site ‘Facebook’ created law and order problem in Kishtwar district on Monday. In the campaign on internet, the involvement of three persons surfaced and the district administration immediately took action against them to defuse the situation.

Reports said that some people resorted to campaign against a particular community by uploading some objectionable contents on social networking site—Facebook. Some persons from Chatroo area liked the contents by logging in their respective accounts on Facebook.

When the people of another community, against which the contents were uploaded by some unscrupulous elements, came to know about the liking of objectionable material they came out on roads and started holding demonstration against what they termed attempts to hurt their religious sentiments.

The news regarding objectionable material on Facebook and liking of same by some members of one community in Chatroo spread like wildfire and after sometime a complete shut-down was observed in the locality inhibited by a particular community, which felt hurt by the contents on Facebook and liking of the same by another community.

Later, a protest rally was taken towards the office of Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar. On way to DC’s office, the protesters even pelted stones on the Police Station and damaged some vehicles. Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Saleem Choudhary gave patient hearing to the protesters and assured stern action against those involved in hurting their sentiments.

In the evening, Deputy Commissioner issued an order which stated, “Some people have resorted to campaign against one community on internet, which has triggered law and order problem. Prima-facie the involvement of Kishori Sharma, of Passerkoot Chatroo, Bansi Lal, of Khariyan and Kirti Sharma, of Passerkoot has surfaced as per the report of Superintendent of Police, Kishtwar,”.

“Superintendent of Police will prepare dossier of the involved person for further booking under criminal laws like PSA and CrPC,” the order said.
