Communal tension in Kishtwar, Two Injured

Two youths were injured after the two groups of two religious factions clashed in Kishtwar district on the eve of Kailash Yatra on Sunday.

Sources said the incident occurred last night when a group raised “provocative” slogans during the Kailash Yatra and beat up a youth of another community.

They added that the two groups clashed with one another resulting in the injuries to at least two peope and the damage to a motorcycle, which led to tension in the area, they said.

However police said, “The situation is normal and peaceful. There is no untoward incident as issue was resolved.”

The two youths suffered minor injuries, police said, adding that two FIRs were registered as per versions of the two sides and the matter was being probed.
