At a time when Srinagar city is grappling with traffic jams, authorities have blinded the internal roads passing through Karan Nagar and Balgarden.
Number of barricades have been created by government in the middle of the roads while the irony is no department is ready to own the action.
SMC and R&B are passing bucks while sources said barricades have been created to appease few locals who are in the good books some top SMC officials.
“Commuters usually took to these link roads of Karan Nagar to avoid traffic jams, but due to these barricades no vehicle is now able to venture through these link roads,” said a local Faizan Gul.
Balgarden Nursingh Ghar locals said that it is residential colony and it should be made out of bounds for traffic.
When we asked an SMC official that these barricades would prove disastrous in case of any tragedy like fire incident, he first feigned ignorance and then said these barricades have been erected to stop illegal constructions. ” Construction material can’t be ferried now in tippers during night hours in these areas,” he said.
Meanwhile, commuters have sought the intervention of SSP Traffic Srinagar city and has appealed him to remove these barricades at an earliest. “When traffic can ply throw narrow lanes of Mehjoor Nagar- Natipora, why it can’t ply through interiors of Balgarden Karan Nagar, they asked. (CNS)
