Condemnation against the killing of a civilian Mehraj ud Din at Kawoosa area of Narbal continued to pour in with political leaders and parties terming it a ‘cold-blooded murder’ by the forces.

Peoples Democratic Party

Strongly condemning the killing, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) termed the killing of a civilian by forces as a cold-blooded murder and demanded stern action against those involved in such a heinous crime.

PDP spokesman in a statement issued here has demanded time-bound inquiry into the incident, terming it a condemnable act that deserves exemplary punishment. He added that the Delhi Police model of destruction and violence in Budgam is detestable and replication of Delhi police model.  He added that incidents such as these are a reflection of the fact that Kashmir is becoming a battlefield wherein the value of precious innocent lives is lost and forgotten.

Asking the Government of India to shun its confrontational attitude towards the people,  PDP spokesman said that the situation with each passing day is becoming bad from worse as the government keeps looking at Kashmir militarily.  “The bestiality calling shots in Kashmir needs to be thwarted by the unanimous efforts of the political leadership and a consensus is needed so that the further loss of human lives is stopped without any further delay,” the party said in a statement.

National Conference

Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Wednesday condemned the killing of a youth in a CRPF firing and demanded an impartial, time-bound probe into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

While condemning the incident in unequivocal terms party Spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar said such incidents are unhelpful and obstructive towards bringing peace to the trouble-torn valley. “The incident has outraged and saddened the people. I convey my solidarity with the kin of the deceased. Such killings are unacceptable and could have been avoided. The incident should be thoroughly probed and the responsibility fixed,” he said.

“Far from furthering peace in the region, such incidents will further add to the alienation of people. I hope the incident is not lost into inscrutability. A precious life has been lost. I, on behalf of my party, express condolences to the grieved family and pray for much-needed courage for them to bear the irreparable loss,” he said.

Congress

The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) today strongly condemned the killing of a civilian and demanded a probe into the incident.

J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) has expressed anguish over the killing of Mehraj U Din Shah of Makhama Beerwah after the CRPF personnel opened fire leading to loss of a precious life and condemned the incident in strongest words.

The firing on deceased Mehraj U din shah should have been avoided, the loss of innocent lives has the potential to lead to the further alienation of the people. PCC said.

JKPCC demanded a probe into the circumstances, which led to the killing of a civilian in order to fix the responsibility, The loss of lives cannot be replaced by anything, Party said.

The Party has urged JK Govt to order a probe into the unfortunate incident of killing of a young man and ensure justice to the bereaved family, PCC  added and conveyed deepest condolences to the bereaved family.

People Conference

Jammu and Kashmir People Conference strongly condemned the senseless act of killing 25-year-old Mehraj ud din Shah for allegedly jumping a check post.

“We strongly condemn the killing of Mehraj din Shah, ostensibly shot at for jumping a check post. Jumping a checkpoint must not be a reason to kill and we must not normalize shooting of our youth for minor incidents like these This is an unjustified and unjustifiable act of violence & an irreparable loss for the family of the deceased. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family. May Allah give them patience & courage to bear the loss in this hour of grief. We also urge the government to probe the matter dispassionately and hold those responsible to account,” PC spokesperson Adnan Mir said in a statement.

Awami Itehad Party

Condemning the action of security forces which resulted in the casualty of a civilian from Budgam today morning, Awami Itehad Party demanded a high-level enquiry into ascertaining what actually transpired on the ground.

The party took strong exception to justifications provided by the authorities. Why has shooting directly become the first and only option for security forces on the ground, was there no other way to intercept the vehicle, asked Party Spokesperson Sheeban Ashai?

“Party top brass condoled the death of Peer Mehraj-ud-din and expressed sympathy with the family. It seems all norms and standards operating procedures have been put to winds under the current regime,” said the statement.

Awami Itehad Party vehemently demands a high level, time-bound Enquiry in the incident It is the responsibility of the Present-day Government to ensure forces on ground don’t become trigger happy and an impartial probe is conducted in this case.

JKAP

Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) senior leader and former minister Ghulam Hassan Mir on Wednesday condemned the killing of a civilian on Srinagar-Gulmarg highway and demanded a time-bound probe into the incident.

In a statement issued here, Mir said termed the use of excessive force in implementing lockdown over COVID pandemic as unjustified. Expressing deep shock and grief over the killing of Mehraj-U-Din Shah of Makhama Beerwah, the JKAP senior leader asked the government to constitute a high-level probe to identify and book the culprits as warranted under law.

Mir said the circumstances, which led to the killing of the youth to be thoroughly and fairly investigated in order to fix the responsibility. “No ex-gratia relief can compensate for the loss of precious life. However, the probe ordered by the government should reach to some logical conclusion in a fixed time period so that justice is done in a timely manner,” Mir observed.

Expressing solidarity with the bereaved family, Mir prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and endurance to bear this irreparable loss. “JKAP stands by the bereaved family, relatives and friends of the deceased at this time of grief and mourning,” Mir remarked while demanding stern action against the guilty.
