SRINAGAR: Condolences poured in from various segments of society on Thursday on the passing away of Ghulam Ahmad Parra, father of PDP leader Waheed Parra.

62-year-old Parra, a model apple grower in his region, passed away after bravely battling cancer for over a year. The son of a staunch Congressman, he leaves behind three sons and a daughter.

PDP party in a post on X expressed profound grief and sorrow on the demise of Haji Gh Ahmed Parra.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved family in this hour of grief. May Almighty Allah grant the departed soul highest place in Jannah. Ameen,” PDP wrote on X.

Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President and Member of the Parliament from Srinagar Dr Farooq Abdullah and Vice President Omar Abdullah extended condolences to Waheed Para on demise of his father.

The duo prayed for peace to the departed soul in the highest echelons of Jannat and fortitude to the bereaved household in their hour of grief.

Former legislator and CPI (M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami also extended condolences to Waheed Para over his father’s demise.

“I extended my heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of late Gulam Ahmad Parra and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Student Leader and National Convenor of JK Students Association Nasir Khuehami also expressed deep shock and sympathy over the demise of Haji Ghulam Ahmad Parra.

In a statement, Khuehami extended condolences to Waheed Parra over the loss of his father, who passed away in Naira Pulwama after a prolonged illness, battling stage IV cancer.

“What a tragic and unexpected loss. I am still in disbelief. Such a generous human being who will live in the hearts of people forever. In his death, Pulwama has lost a generous human being,’ said Nasir Khuehami at a condolence meet.
