Police had to intervene when Congress and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) workers Wednesday had a fight at the venue of filling of nomination papers in Bandipora.

Reports said the Congress and PDP candidates for Bandipora, Usman Majid and Nizamu din reached the spot at the same time with their supporters who started beating each other by the sticks holding their respective flags.

Police teams tried to pacify the agitated workers of both the parties however, they remained fighting when Nizam and Usman were filling their papers.

Elections for the Bandipora seat are scheduled on November 25.
