According to an official statement issued by the All India Congress Committee (AICC), Congress President has entrusted Mir with the responsibility of overseeing the party’s organisational affairs in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry with immediate effect. He replaces Girish Chodankar, who was previously holding the charge.

The reshuffle also saw Prakash Joshi being appointed as the General Secretary in-charge of West Bengal, replacing Ghulam Ahmed Mir, who had earlier been overseeing the party’s affairs in the state.

The organisational changes come shortly after the Congress appointed Manickam Tagore as the new president of the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC), signalling a renewed focus on strengthening the party’s organisation in the southern state.

The appointments were announced through an official communication issued by AICC General Secretary (Organisation) K. C. Venugopal, who said the changes take effect immediately.
