Strongly condemning the behavior of a police officer with Vice Chancellor of the University of Kashmir Prof Khurshid Iqbal Andrabi on Jammu Srinagar Highway, Congress Monday expressed serious concern over the attitude of the state police towards the head of a prestigious institution, who was on way to Srinagar yesterday and described it as an act of disgrace to Prof Andrabi, who is not only VC of KU, but a renowned scholar of the State.

In a statement issued her, expressing serious concern over the incident the JKPCC Spokesperson said that the police officer on duty as per the rule of law should have awarded Challan to the driver of the vehicle against the use of tinted glass instead of making the VC wait on the road for about 20 minutes, besides the video-graphy of the episode has added confusion to the incident and it should be probed who uploaded the video on Facebook.

“What was the motive behind taping the incident of removing tint from the SUV of VC,” the spokesman questioned, however, he added “The party has full faith in the Rule of Law which is equal for everyone, but the circumstances in which the SUV of VC was stopped and taping of the incident is something which needs to be probed.”

The Spokesperson asked the Chief Minister to take cognizance of the matter and order an enquiry in order to ascertain the facts behind this whole episode.
