In a letter addressed to the Prime Minister, Kharge, who also serves as the Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, said that the current situation required unity and joint political action. He said such a session would reflect Parliament’s collective stand on terrorism and send a strong message of resolve.

“This is a moment where solidarity is crucial. We believe Parliament must meet at the earliest to address the tragic incident and demonstrate national will,” Kharge wrote.

The government has said the attack had cross-border connections and assured strict action against those responsible.

Multiple opposition MPs have echoed Kharge’s demand for a special sitting of both Houses to address the national security situation.

Meanwhile, speaking at a public rally in Rajasthan, Kharge criticised the Prime Minister for not attending the all-party meeting held after the Pahalgam attack. He accused the BJP of using the tragedy to create social divisions, saying that “in a time of collective grief, efforts should be made to unite, not divide”.
