SRINAGAR: Congress leader Sonia Gandhi was admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi, according to multiple media reports.
Officials described the admission as routine. Gandhi has a history of chronic cough and regularly visits the hospital for check-ups, especially considering the city’s high pollution levels. She was admitted on Monday evening and is stable, currently under the observation of a chest specialist, NDTV reported.
Sonia Gandhi is an Italian-born Indian politician and senior Congress leader who served as the party’s longest-tenured president. She entered active politics in 1998 after initially staying away following Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination, led the UPA to victories in 2004 and 2009, declined the prime ministership, and is currently a Rajya Sabha MP.
