SRINAGAR: Former minister and ex-MP Choudhary Lal Singh, accompanied by former NSUI national president Fairoz Khan and senior Congress leaders, on Monday visited Rajgarh to meet families devastated by the recent cloudburst, demanding immediate relief and rehabilitation measures, his spokesman said in a statement.

The delegation interacted with survivors and grieving families, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of lives and destruction. They urged the Jammu and Kashmir government, the Union Territory administration and the Centre to take urgent and concrete steps to address the crisis.
The Congress team placed four key demands before the authorities: a government job for each affected family to secure long-term livelihood, Rs 10 lakh compensation to families who lost loved ones, allotment of land to rehabilitate those displaced after their homes were washed away or declared unsafe, and immediate assessment of cracked and damaged households with due compensation. They also sought relief for loss of crops and livestock.
The leaders met local Congress workers and praised their efforts in providing ground-level support to the victims. They discussed coordinated strategies to ensure sustained relief operations in the region.
Those who joined the visit included Tilak Raj, Block President Congress Rajgarh, Ishaq Khanday, Farooq Katoch, Pervaiz Wani, Sawarn Veer Jaral, Ali Shan Haider, Nasar Wani, Tabrez Furkan, Kamraj Sen, Qasim and others.
Speaking to reporters, Lal Singh and other leaders underlined that compassionate governance and timely action were crucial in moments of disaster. They pledged to keep raising the issue until victims were given justice, adequate relief and rehabilitation.
“The Congress Party will stand shoulder to shoulder with every affected family until full rehabilitation is achieved,” the leaders said.
