jkb loli pora 03Days after union minster for New and Renewable Energy and National Conference patron, Dr Farooq Abdullah stated that civic polls will be held only after the tourist season, State Congress Chief Prof Safudin Soz today said that civic polls cannot be avoided for a long time and the Congress party is fully ready for holding civic polls and is in touch with its coalition partner over the issue so that polls could be held effectively.

“We are talking to our coalition partner and are ready to hold elections like BDC and civic poll. NC however, has their own perception,” he said.

Talking to a local news agency, KNS Soz said, “We are in a coalition but congress party is ready for the civic polls we are trying to tell National conference that these elections including BDC should be done now.”

He further said, “Congress Minster has given the writing to the cabinet that he is prepared to hold these elections.

“We tell them that these elections should be held now as we cannot avoid these elections for a long time now,” said Soz.

While replying to a question Soz admitted that the old city has been neglected by the government as the people of the area are facing several problems including “Medical facilities but I want to solve the problems of the old city as I have discussed it with the officials.”

“I directed the officers of the PDD to improve the electric infrastructure in these areas and ensure adequate supply of electricity, especially in the days of Ramzan,” Soz said.

Pertinently in April this year the National Conference-Congress Coordination Committee, headed by State Congress president Saif-ud-Din Soz, announced holding the polls by the end of June 2013.

Meanwhile Saifud Din Soz today visited many parts of the old city where he addressed a gathering and assured the people that he would sort out Problems including Garbage Dump.
