SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Chief, Tariq Hameed Karra, announced on Wednesday that the Congress Party will not join the Council of Ministers in Jammu and Kashmir at this time, citing dissatisfaction with the delay in restoring statehood to the region.
Karra emphasised that, despite repeated promises by the Prime Minister during public meetings, the Centre has yet to restore statehood to JK. “We are unhappy, therefore we are not joining the Ministry at the moment,” Karra said.
Former JKPCC Chief G A Mir reiterated the party’s stance. “We are part of the government and committed to achieving common goals, but we will not take the oath until statehood is restored.”
