State Congress president Professor Saif-u-Din Soz Thursday said that Congress party is hopeful to grab chairmanship of Kargil Autonomous Hill Development Council (KAHDC). “We have bagged 12 out of 26 seats and the three independent candidates are showing inclination towards our party,” Soz told Srinagar based news gathering agency CNS adding that Congress would sweep Assembly polls as well.

Soz said that Congress party is in touch with three independent candidates in Kargil and they are showing deep interest in Congress party. “Let us see what happens but one thing I could tell you with authority that Congress is emerging as a vibrant force in the State,” Soz said.

Out of 26 seats Congress bagged 12, National Conference 11 while independent candidates won three seats. Sources told CNS that National Conference is leaving no stone unturned to garner the support of these three independent candidates. However, Soz claimed that all the three independent candidates have expressed their willingness to support Congress.

“It would a biggest achievement for the party to grab the coveted post of Chairmanship of KAHDC,” Soz said.
