SRINAGAR: A police constable died following an electric explosion near a transformer outside the main gate of a police station in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Thursday.
An official said that the constable, identified as Altaf Ahmad Bhat, was on sentry duty when the blast occurred. The explosion from the nearby transformer caused him to fall unconscious.
He was immediately taken to the hospital, where doctors attempted to revive him. However, he was declared dead shortly after.
Police have initiated medico-legal formalities, and further investigation is underway. (JKNS)
